What's New?
Week Two!
Our second week of school was full of fun! We have starting dipping our toes into the academics by reviewing parts of speech in writing, discussing vocabulary words and sequencing in ELA, and going over place value in math. Although we have faced some hard times with many of our 4G classmates having to miss time in school, we are still doing our best to have a great start to the year! Special shout out to the birthday boy for his generosity on his 10th birthday to distribute these cool new masks to everyone in class, what a cool way to stay safe and healthy!

First Day Fun!
Today was the first day of fourth grade! We spent time getting to know each other, adjusting to life back at school, and learning new routines! The kids did a great job with listening, being respectful, and getting adjusted. Today, we participated in a few activities to kick off the year. First, the students got a chance to throw and catch the "Question Ball" and answer a silly would you rather question. Next, the kids worked cooperatively in groups to complete a STEM challenge- build the tallest structure using only straws and scotch tape! After that, we read a short story called Ish and discussed what it means to have a "growth mindset." The students created their own creative "ish" pictures that will be hanging in the hallway! Later, we had a chance to organize and label some of our school supplies in order to start the year off right. Next, we played a fun and interactive game called "What's in the Bag?" in which students could only use their sense of touch to guess which school supply items were hidden in various paper bags- very challenging! Finally, we finished the day by packing up and listening to the read-aloud story The Twits by Roald Dahl. It was a very exciting first day, I hope the students had as much fun as I did!

The second day was just as fun filled as the first! We enjoyed creating selfie projects, trying out a science magic trick, and listening to some read alouds! The kids had their first outdoor recess of fourth grade and enjoyed mingling with fourth graders from the other classes too! I look forward to seeing the students again after this long weekend break!
